Our Programs
Farm Fresh Kids
We have dedicated programs for youth that combine education and outdoor activities, promoting teamwork and a love for nature. These programs are designed to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

Benefits of the program

Educational Value
Gardening teaches children about plant biology, ecology, and the importance of biodiversity in a hands-on way.
Encourages Healthy Eating
Children who grow their own fruits and vegetables are more likely to have a positive attitude towards eating them.
Fosters Responsibility
Taking care of a garden helps children learn about responsibility and the satisfaction that comes from nurturing something over time.
Promotes Environmental Stewardship
Through gardening, children learn about the importance of taking care of the environment, sustainability, and the impact of human activities on the earth.
Wind Hill Community Farm Ag Work Program
In 2025, WHCF launched a hands-on program for GHS Ag students to volunteer several hours a week during the summer and early fall and earn SEC credit. Students received hands on experience while supporting our Farm team growing produce using organic principles for our Community Supported Agriculture(CSA), Farm stand and Food Pantry donations.
This year, thanks to The Hartford Foundation for Giving’s Alvord Grant, we will be awarding stipends to selected students from the GHS Ag Program who reside in Glastonbury and Manchester.

If you are considering a future in agriscience, this program is a wonderful way to expand your knowledge giving a amazing experience and life skills.

At WHCF we pass on knowledge to future generations of Farmers. By allowing students to get hands on experience and learn about the future of Agribusiness. Students learn more about the science of farming. Through this experience, the students learn the principles of organic farming (no till farming, use of natural pesticides, natural fertilizers and crop rotation practices) as well as about our eco-friendly solar powered water system and drip irrigation system. The students also gained skills in effectively communicating with customers as well as other volunteers at the Farm. Students worked hard, but they also had fun, gained valuable work experience and made some wonderful friendships.
We are looking for students to commit to about 75 hours this summer/fall. Major responsibilities are:
-
Being teaching assistants for our summer educational program Farm Fresh Kids.
-
Planning, growing and maintaining the crop of your choice for our food pantry donations as well as supporting the farm’s food production.
-
Helping with upkeep of grounds including our herb and pollinator gardens, hoop house and fields.
-
Documenting and sharing your experience with our communiuty.
Farm Stand
Our community farm will offer a variety of fresh produce grown using organic principles to the community this summer. We encourage local residents to support sustainable agriculture by shopping at our farm stand.
